Jena McMillan, CMHC Intern

Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern, Liberty University

Hi there! I’m Jena, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at the Lyons Center LLC. I received my bachelor’s degree at Liberty University, and I am currently in the process of getting my master’s in Clinical Mental Health, graduating in May 2025.

I have a deep passion for cultivating safe and nurturing spaces, dedicated to providing empathetic support to individuals and couples navigating any issues or concerns. I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step in asking for support. I want to meet my clients right where they are and tailor my sessions specific to each client.

When it comes to therapy, I like to use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I believe that our lives are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves. Through both approaches, I want to empower my clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, while rewriting narratives that empower them to embrace their unique identities and rewrite their narrative with resilience and purpose.

I have previous experience working with individuals/couples dealing with anxiety/depression, past traumas (specifically sexual abuse) and life transitions. My hope and desire are to collaborate with each of my clients/couples to build on their strengths and support them as they grow to a place of mental and/or spiritual health.

Rates: $50/session (does not accept insurance)
